I haven't updated in ages so, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gg24oKFONpw A preview for my latest game: AXRIA. If you don't know what AXRIA is, its a concept i've had for years (Originally named the Fear of Death) and over the years have changed time and time again. Characters you may have seen around and when the game is done, you'll see them more!
I plan on releasing the first demo soon, and with any criticsism I'll take it in and make changes to the game play and make fixes. The game will be a 16 bit style (Though in 24 bit) and is reminicant to games like Megaman and old Amiga games such as Turrican.
What you'll see in the video has changed drasticly since the video was posted up, Hopefull release for a demo- at least the end of summer- the game, Maybe Christmas?

OMG I LOVE IT! It's like playing a painting. You've definitely got some artistic talent there man. ^^ The gameplay looks great too.

I know it may seem like a bit of a bump but, heres some more images:
(Warning Huge file!)
I decided rather than make one level than the next, make sprites and things ready for each level- make a basic layout- then go back and polish off the earlier levels and work on from there. It seems to keep things fresh and quicker. Working on the same level over and over can get a bit dull.
Expect it around late summer 2011.

really nice to look at. good job

wow man that looks amazing did you make all the sprites yourself?
Offline
Yes, all from scratch mostly on paint or Photoshop.

Haha yeah, my sprites are still nothing to sneeze at, but I don't have the know-how to make them in anything but MSPaint.
You got great detail there though. I love the backgrounds very high quality.

Just to update, theres a new website launched that'll specialise in showing behind the scenes stuff about AXRIA aswell as other things once the game's actually released. Release should be arond Winter, If it's delayed- just renember that means more time to put more stuff in the game.

Heres a minor and not so intresting update. After my first use of a tablet, heres the near to final Box art.
(HUGE File!)

Rad... If there comes a time in AXRIA where someone in game describes something awsome, They should say "Rad!".
While working on this, I was thinking of the Megaman 10 Boxart- Yet somehow looking back at it, I get a feel of Marvel comic style (Though im not a fan). After looking at Holy diver art, I think its pretty rad to.
Offline
Haha yeah I'm trying to bring back Rad as a normal way to express coolness. Epic and awesome are way too overused. Cliche' to the max.
No way man, yours is way more rad than Mega Man 10 box art. I get a totally 80s vibe from it. Which is why I like it so much.

Why thanks!
Epic/Awsome = Overused
Rad= Cool forever

no way man, that's just a draft! The basic idea and layout are really good. Spend some time on it and you can make that look amazing. If that's your first time using a tablet, imagine how much better you can make it look when you've been practicing.
I wonder how you'd feel about cropping it a bit? There's some kind of boring areas that don't need to be in the frame so much. maybe more like this:
I'm trying to offer constructive criticism because I like what you're doing. like Jinroh said, totally rad

Near to final might be stretching it, I can see now its obviously a draft and not really close to the final wich is a good thing - plus there'll be the obvious title and logos & stuff aswell as other small details.
And I can see your point, it doesn't need so much filler should I say. Most of it was there because I was trying too hard to replicate the original sketch I was basing it off:
Thanks for the criticism, I wish more people would offer criticism.

Haha, I'd have given criticism if I could have found some. I could not have find any though.
Your box art image:
*Stylish
*Rough lines and hatch mark shading. (RAD! I love that.)
*Main character in an interesting pose and the primary focus of the image.
*Contrasting/varied lighting and shading. (Keeps it interesting)
*Tiny background details, everywhere.
That's my critique, these are all good points btw. The only thing I guess that some people may not like is that it looks a little too rough in spots, like where it's coloured outside the lines and whatnot. I personally have no problem with this as you did it on your tablet. Some people might just prefer a clear and clean vectorized version.
Still rad man.

Whoops, let me try and rephrase that.
"Thanks for the criticism, I wish more people would offer criticism if theres something to point out."
With that line I was mainly refrencing the kind of people who say 'Good picture.' or something lazy like that, but don't say what they liked or what could improve it. I don't mind it when people say something like that its just I've had many people who just say "Its good" without saying much more.
Thanks for the points and critisim anyway, I think I made It seem as if I was targeting you. (lol)

Haha yeah, I did think you thought my response was a little lazy. XD
Though I would change nothing, even if people like Ibbod think you should. XD

Totally rad man. I'm loving it. Everything and its hand drawn style is great. The walking cycle looks a bit to slow for my eyes, but that could just be me. Everything else looks A-Maze-Ing. Rad to the max.
Are your previews going in reverse numerical order? I noticed you have a preview 6 and 7 on there as well.
It reminds me a lot of Strider, which is totally rad, especially since I got to play the arcade version just yesterday! Still though, I suck at it, and the Genesis port will always have a special place in my heart.
