Re: Sonic CD Remix

I think the best option is the original Jap and US tracks.

Hey, sonic CD's music, I'm at a bit of a loss..
Should i use the original musical score, and have options to change between Japanese and English versions?
What I'm really hoping to gather are are some remixed versions.
Hope everyone will keep there eyes open for some sonic CD remixes.

Official remixes of the Japanese tracks, ( there seem to only be 8 tracks)

Yeah, he's taking a break for AXSX(I think that's right) because Xeniczone is busy with school and their schedules don't match up. So, until their schedules match up again he's working on this, which was started just befor AXSX.

Yeah, a complete sonic CD in 3D is the goal ^__^
Trying to keep the models topography as close as i can to the original which is very time consuming.
Thanks for offering to contribute,
I know your pretty good at modeling, from some of the models you've showcased in the past.
If i were to need something it would probably be an assistant modeler to take some of the burden off.

But i must say, when it comes to modeling, i usually like to go it alone, for consistancy in the work.

You weren't being rude I was just joking.

I like the original soundtrack my self. I don't think that it needs modernized. I think that the sound effects need modernized.

Re: Sonic CD Remix

Hey guys ,,,, here are some IN-PROGRESS screen shots of an unoptimized model, (non quad Polly at the moment, final will be 100% quads)
So you guys can see some of the behind the scenes junk going down.

So much planing is going into this zone, for bringing each and every contour into 3D while trying to keep it identical to the 2D concept,
The original 2D can be perceived in so many ways, thus i have been doing a few variations of level chunk, and trying my best to decide what works best,
Man i cant wait till this zone is done and out of the way,,,,
I may not work on this for the rest of the day, need a break, since i feel a little sick from an overload of work,,,,

This level chunk is a single model mesh, ( not built of individual parts)
the in game model will be built of individual pieces for frame rate boost
Reason for modeling in this manor is part of the Mudbox workflow for generating highly detailed normal maps.

( i normally don't model this way was kind of just messen around , Much optimizations to come, see below post)

Re: Sonic CD Remix

Just so you guys don't think I'm messy modeler, heres an optimized model,

Each model chunk is currently divided into 256 x 256 units, (The model in the above post has not yet been broken into chunks)
In game models will be 128 x 128 units,( smaller size for more level editor variations)

looking good! I hope that this game gets completed... sadly, I'd rather see a version of sonic the hedgehog 3 in 3d but this is great!

Re: Sonic CD Remix

If i remember correctly, didn't someone do something like this back in 2006/2007 for SAGE? It was posted on the old forums if anyone wants to look at it.

Also use the JAP/EU music, much better! (Yes EU had the better music!)

yikes2  It's beautiful to see it in 3d and still look exactly like the 2d.
