If i remember correctly, didn't someone do something like this back in 2006/2007 for SAGE? It was posted on the old forums if anyone wants to look at it.
Also use the JAP/EU music, much better! (Yes EU had the better music!)
have a link?
I don't remember seeing anything like that, although it sounds pretty good,

Hey guys ,,,, here are some IN-PROGRESS screen shots of an unoptimized model, (non quad Polly at the moment, final will be 100% quads)
So you guys can see some of the behind the scenes junk going down.
So much planing is going into this zone, for bringing each and every contour into 3D while trying to keep it identical to the 2D concept,
The original 2D can be perceived in so many ways, thus i have been doing a few variations of level chunk, and trying my best to decide what works best,
Man i cant wait till this zone is done and out of the way,,,,
I may not work on this for the rest of the day, need a break, since i feel a little sick from an overload of work,,,,
This level chunk is a single model mesh, ( not built of individual parts)
the in game model will be built of individual pieces for frame rate boost
Reason for modeling in this manor is part of the Mudbox workflow for generating highly detailed normal maps.

( i normally don't model this way was kind of just messen around , Much optimizations to come, see below post)

I like that model, but it is a little dark...

Oh the wii Olympics model,
Don't really care much metals redesign here, especially the pivoting hip ball joint thingy.

But i must say, when it comes to modeling, i usually like to go it alone, for consistancy in the work.
yeah dude, i hear ya. Hiring help for our iphone project was painful, as i wanted to do everything myself. Luckily i have some good friends who understand the goals and style we're after.
How are you going to do the smaller, less important details like flowers and doodads? Are you going for pixel perfect remakes across the board?
Also, have you seen sonic 4? It's looking pretty sweet, maybe you could draw some inspiration from it.

Iphone project? hey now that sounds cool. Is that what you're doing for a living?
The goal is the feeling of playing Sonic Cd with updated graphics, while attempting to stay true to the original heart of the game.
There will be new secret rooms, longer act 3's and more challenging boss encounters,
along with 2 additional zones, R2 and Final Fever
most people believe R2 was originally cut from the game, I believe it was a Marble type zone right after palm tree panic.
If you go to Round 2 in level select its not there, in one of the Betta's its selectable but takes you to another zone.
Here are some tile tidbits found in Sonic CD that sort of may not belong in the zones they're found in,
for example Pilers and background from Tidal Tempest zone,
And if you time travel to the past in act 1 of Wacky Workbench, you can find a hidden room with a statue which spews rings,
The room does not match the rest of the level design,
Some tiles may be from an even earlier Tidal tempest since they are similar, but don't match any of the tempest tiles,
who knows? but I'm betting there all R2..
also Below I did a few pallet edits to the above mentioned sonic CD tiles to match that of Marble Zone from sonic 1.
( i don't think the intended pallet colors for R2 were the same as Marble zone, but for this mock up they are,
(note: in one of the leaked betas the Wacky Workbench past pallet is blue instead of green,
theres more... in the ending Animation of Sonic CD.... a segment of animation was cut.
it involved a Pincher type bad-nick, also found in Sonic 2 for Game gear,
That pincher Boss in sonic 2 GG was located in ,, guess what? a Lava type zone.
Check out time 0:55 Right after Palm Tree panic to view this cut segment.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZB6uMCkVL0

The only zone i see missing from the ending to sonic CD is tidal tempest....
so 0:55 could also be Tidal Tempest zone's lost video, it seems to be set in an old Lab Ruin,
although i don't see where the Pincher-Bot, sand, and vines would fit in a water zone.
Pincher Boss video from sonic 2 GG
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKWvYfDG3CI
In conclusion no one really knows what R2 is, It Could have been a desert or jungle zone for all we know.
Its very frustrating to decide on what sort of zone R2 should be for sonic CD Remix.

off topic what program you using and cut senses are you going to have them, or just the 2 cartoons like the old one?

may use the origonal Anime scenes,

"Rubble"... like ending... if Sonic steps on broken floor (like "falling" platform), the floor breaks into piece that made Sonic falls into Pincher-Bot/hole-of-boom.
Just my suggestion
Edit: Another Ruin in background of Stardust Speedway Past.

Y'know i actually wondered where i saw a thread like this before, so i flicked through the old archives and found this.
http://www.senntient.com/ubb/Forum10/HTML/000069.html
Would you be using the old work from this to carry on? or is it a new project entirely?
Also i think i've found the other Sonic CD game that someone was making.
http://www.senntient.com/ubb/Forum10/HTML/000132.html
Now reading through the thread, i have realised i was confusing the old "Sonic CD Remix" with this old thing, but i believe i still have that guys demo somewhere.

yeah its a continuation of the first thread's Sonic CD Remix. The screen shots there were all Work in progress,
Metal sonic, and all the textures will be reworked a bit,
http://www.senntient.com/ubb/Forum10/HTML/000069.html
I think i remember seeing the second Thread's time twisted game but cant really remember it.
to bad there aren't any screens left, to help remember.

Do not know if this is the right Youtube video or not, but the SRB2 Palmtree Panic Zone was quite nice.
