Your front cover was brilliant. ^_^ This back cover looks good, but the just standing there Sonic looks a bit out of place. A little too Godzilla.

Alright how's this. I don't think this totally works but it's an idea to work off of.

Edit: I just reloaded all of the pictures i made as jpg so they should load quicker if you're using a slow internet connection.

I based mine off of the several saturn cases that i have. It's fairly accurate to the ninety's. The design actually hasn't changed much since the ninety's. It's still accurate.

I mean your styling actually pertains to the game!  the nineties had random boxart, not screenshots

Re: Sonic Extreme box art made from chris senn's ideas

I guess you're right, the covers and backdrops weren't screenshots but they were at least related to a level in a game, or a prominent game character. Unfortunately i'm not much of an artist so I can't do covers with that exact style. Here's an example of what i'm saying

Edit: Here's another example

Re: Sonic Extreme box art made from chris senn's ideas

The sonic games were actually alright, as far as boxart pertaining to the game goes.. but some games... not so much

my favourite example right now (i think this is what omega meant ??):

boxart:
http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/7272/largeo.jpg
actual art style used in game:

Your first image is blocked, could you tell us what game it is for?

Edit: Nevermind, wow that's funny. The cover art is horrible compared to the actual game!! Wow. I just can't get past how bad that was.

@Fresno
Looks great Fresno, the sprite's a little pixelated but pretty darn good. ^^

@Jib
Look's better than the first ^^ I like the Dr. Robotnik on the back but I'm  still confused about the giant Sonic head on the mountain. ?_?

Looks better IMO though hehe.

@Ibbod0 Thanks a lot, you spurned me to change my avatar to fit the Rika I had seen before my eyes. ^o^

He's jumping on Dr. Robotnik. That's why I said it didn't fit very well. I think it's a good idea to work from though.

Edit: Nice new avatar jinroh

Re: Sonic Extreme box art made from chris senn's ideas

Maybe I should make it easier to see. I'll try using a "sonic jumping" sprite.

BTW: I'll give you 10 points if you can tell me where that Dr. Robotnik sprite came from.

Is that the Robotnik from Sonic's School House?

I had a demo for that game that came in a box of cereal. It was a Hershey's Sega CD Sampler which came with Demos of Sonic CD, Sonic Schoolhouse, Sonic 3/Sonic & Knuckles, and Garfield something.

It did not literally come in the box I had to mail away for it. ^o^

That's right! I have the actual game. It's the only game released by sega that uses anything from Sonic X-treme. I was always terrified of him, I would almost never go into the room where he is because I was scared that he was going to get me! It has some good usable sprites and 3D sonic images to use for cover art and what not. I might be able to get a few usable textures out of it!

I used to play that game when I was like 5 years old! I found it in my basement and played it for a little, I'm really good at it now. Then I joined this forum. Then when this cover art thing came up I though I could get some useful stuff out of it.

Oh yeah, you get 10 POINTS!!!!!

LOL! It would be scary though if you still couldn't beat a math game that was designed for small children.

Well I could beat it when I was 5 years old, so 11 years later I think I'm pretty good at it. It has some good 3D models for fanart.

Re: Sonic Extreme box art made from chris senn's ideas

Well i admit it. It's a lot harder than what i thought, to design the box art of an old school game. Mine is really simple and didn't put much time and thought into it but here it is. The Sonic & Knuckles box art is what inspired the simplicity and also Chris's rendition of the Sonic X-treme box art. I know it isn't that great but oh well.

That's pretty good! You're right it does look somewhat like the sonic and knuckles cover art. I never was a huge fan of that Sonic 3D blast cover art though. It's still pretty good. I like it.
